Heritage: Live with Lisa Dawson

Saturday 26 March, 12:00 - 13:00

Share:

Free outdoor lunchtime performance of traditional music from across Northern Ireland, Ireland and Scotland.

*This is a third party hire event*

Classical singer, Lisa Dawson, is taking a fresh look at traditional folk songs by creating new arrangements for piano and voice, blending classical, contemporary and traditional musical styles.

Having performed with many vocal ensembles in venues across the world including Carnegie Hall, New York and The Royal Albert Hall, London, the ‘Heritage’ project is the official launch of Lisa’s solo career.

Lisa has spent the last year creating recordings of 10 traditional songs, which came together to create the ‘Heritage’ album, and is now bringing these songs to life in a live performance, with support from the Arts Council Northern Ireland.

By exploring how these songs make up the musical culture of Northern Ireland, this concert will reconnect you with songs you may have forgotten, or may bring back many memories.

Songs will include favourites such as ‘My Lagan Love’, ‘Carrickfergus’ and ‘The Belle of Belfast City (Tell Me Ma)’.

As summertime officially begins we will retract the outer doors that open up the Theatre’s stage onto the park-facing terrace where Lisa will perform to a free outdoor audience. Bring your camp chair and picnic!
