Awakening | A Celebration of Light, Together

Saturday 7 February | 3-5pm| Free & Drop- in

Join us to celebrate the oncoming spring and the return of the light, as we explore how cultures around the world mark the awakening from winter into springtime. Inspired by the Celtic festival of Imbolc & Chinese New Year, our centre will be alive with colour, creativity, music and storytelling – all FREE and open to everyone.

From 3–5pm, children are invited to join a range of drop-in creative workshops running throughout the afternoon. They can pick and choose what to try and move between activities as they wish. Some of the things on offer include:

  • Wishing Tickets – write a wish for 2026 (for yourself, your family or the world) and hang it on our communal Wishing Tree

  • Imbolc-inspired clay decorations to create and take home

  • Create your own St Brigid’s Cross, celebrating protection, renewal and new beginnings

  • Dragon puppet-making to mark Chinese New Year

  • Chinese New Year–inspired lanterns, celebrating light, hope and good fortune

Adding to the atmosphere, enjoy walkabout music from the Causeway Mummers, bringing rhythm and surprise throughout the centre. We will also welcome St Brigid, who will meet and greet visitors, share her story, and introduce some of the traditions and symbolism surrounding Imbolc, the festival of new light, freshness and hope.

The celebration will culminate in a spectacular outdoor fire performance by the brilliant Firepoise, bringing warmth, movement and energy as we come together to welcome the brighter season ahead.

We hope you’ll join us for this joyful celebration of light, culture and community.
