Thursday 25 May & 1 June

7-9pm

Cost: £30 full, £27 concession

Explore the practice of still life painting which celebrates ordinary everyday objects with Heather Byrne. This genre of painting goes back centuries, but Heather will help you use it in a contemporary way, with drawing exercises that encourage you to be expressive and intuitive. Participants will look at composition, colour mixing and working in a series, which you will be able to develop in the second workshop to create a finished painting. Only 10 places available.

Please bring two or three small everyday objects – for example, a piece of fruit, cup, spoon, pencil, book, small jug, flower, feather. Choose objects that give you colour, shape or an interesting pattern. Please also bring an A3 sketchbook and a good selection of acrylic paint and drawing materials (charcoal, oil pastels, soft pastels, drawing pencils or felt tip pens).

Please wear a shirt or an apron, that you won’t mind getting marked with paint.
