Examining the legacy of the Troubles at Flowerfield

FLOWERFIELD Arts Centre welcomes an original piece of theatre next Friday (November 6) when Theatre of Witness presents 'We Carried Your Secrets', which looks at some of the unanswered questions of the Troubles.

Bars and Face
We Carried Your Secrets - a powerful drama from Theatre of Witness, appearing at Flowerfield Arts Centre on Friday November 6th.

Audiences have been hugely responsive and moved by the production in early performances, and many have spoken of their 'privilege' at having been present for the show. "Your are brave," one audience member commented on the company's website, "and your bravery is what will bring us to a new reality in Northern Ireland."

Created by Teya Sepinuck, We Carried Your Secrets is an original Theatre of Witness production, performed by fathers who have been in the front lines during the Troubles - and by adult children from the next generation who have unanswered questions about this legacy.

We Carried Your Secrets will be performed at Flowerfield on Friday November 6th at 7.30pm (please note the earlier than usual start time) and admission is FREE - but patrons are requested to telephone Flowerfield and reserve their place on (028) 7083 1400.

This cross community group has come together under Teya's direction in order to shed light on a new model of courage and peacemaking. The performers share their true stories of silence, secrecy, injustice, accountability and healing.

All participants will personally portray their own journeys of reconciliation, reconnection and healing, thereby creating performances of raw depth, honesty and truth. Teya has been developing Theatre of Witness for the past 20 years in the United States and Poland with prisoners, refugees from Vietnam and Cambodia, survivors and perpetrators of domestic abuse, families of murder victims as well as older people, immigrants, teen parents and people in recovery.

By sharing the performer's true stories of silence, secrecy, accountability and healing, this dynamic multi-media production sheds light on a new model of courage and peacemaking.

We Carried Your Secrets has been created by Teya Sepinuck with original live music by Brian Irvine, and film projections by John McIlduff.

Please call Flowerfield on (028) 7083 1400 if you would like to reserve a seat - but be quick, as seats are starting to go fast.
