Acclaimed printmaker offers a one day 'green' workshop at Flowerfield
INTERNATIONALLY recognised artist Tim Stampton offers a workshop in 'green etching' at Flowerfield Arts Centre this Saturday September 12th, in advance of his exhibition Fair Ladies, which opens at the centre in November.
Based in Donegal, Tim produces wood engravings, woodcuts and watercolours and collaborates with authors as an illustrator of books from Irish folklore to children's stories. The exhibition 'Fair Ladies' (which will be on show in the main galleries at Flowerfield from November 7 to 28) is a series of specially produced etched prints to pioneer an environmentally friendly etching technique - the use of soft ground aluminium plates etched with a salt solution, the ragged lines, random dots and marks being a by-product of the process. You can try your hand at this technique yourself on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm, as Tim guides you through the process - no previous experience is required. The cost for the day is £25, with a £20 concession fee, and this will include complimentary tea and coffee (bring a packed lunch), the use of facilities, inks, scrim, tissue and cartridge paper. We have 12 places available - sign up by getting in touch with our reception staff on (028) 7083 1400.
