From bluegrass to Brahms via Basin Street - at Flowerfield this autumn

PIANO Recitals, singer songwriters, New Orleans jazz and roof-raising bluegrass - Flowerfield Arts Centre has it all in store as the centre gears up for its autumn concert season between September and Christmas.

Some extra dates are still being confirmed for other events, but in the meantime, here are some of the delights on offer…

The Broken String Band raised the rafters during their last visit to Flowerfield, and their return visit on Friday September 18th looks like being no exception, as the band return with their patented blend of acoustic music, great banter and fine playing.

Flowerfield favourites The Apex Jazz Band haven't played here in a while, but they're back on Friday October the 9th with their Dixieland-flavoured, foot-stomping blend of New Orleans jazz - a night not be missed.

The fabulous Fidelio Trio will be performing for the first time at Flowerfield on October 27th, a Tuesday night concert supported by Coleraine Borough Arts Committee. The trio will include pieces by Ravel, Mozart and Schumann in their programme, as well as a piece by one contemporary Irish composer.

Acclaimed concert pianist Richard Deering will give a solo piano recital on Wednesday November 18th, featuring pieces by Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and Schubert, among others.

The Girona Orchestra will be returning for their popular annual concert again - the details and date have yet to be confirmed, but the orchestra (made up of amateur musicians from the Causeway Coast area) will offer the usual delightful selection of classical music with an added festive flavour.

On Monday December 22nd, local songwriter Anthony Toner returns for a date as part of a trio, featuring songs from his new album, The Duke of Oklahoma and Other Stories. The concert will follow the format of last year's event, starting at 6pm and finishing by 7.30pm. Mulled wine and mince pies will be on offer! The early evening show will also feature singer songwriter and producer Clive Culbertson on bass, piano and vocals and John McCullough on piano and keyboards.

Keep watching this space for details of additional events - and don't forget to sign up for the mailing list.
