Winter One Day Workshops

Saturday November 28th

FLORISTRY: ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS TREE
10.30am to 4.30pm
Tutor: Sheila Sortwell
Make a beautiful alternative the traditional tabletop Christmas tree. This truly stunning creation is made with snow capped cream branches and finished with seasonal beads, crystals and wires
It is believed that if you write your specialFlowerfield Dusted with Snow wish on a piece of paper and hang it on the tree, the wind then blows it into the air and your wish is granted! Participants will also create a simple Christmas Candle wrap, another great idea to bring a bit of sparkle to  old Christmas Candles….

Saturday November 28th

PATCHWORK FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
10am to 4pm
Tutor: Sue Taylor
A class for those taking their first steps in Patchwork - learn how to cut using a rotary cutter and mat. Sew using quarter inch seams, learn a few patchwork terms and make a lap quilt in the Rail fence pattern. Fabric requirements will be given at enrolment. Flowerfield has some sewing machines, so there is no need to bring your own.

Deborah Logan continues her Art History for Christmas talk by looking at the story behind the Christmas traditions which decorate the festive season.

FLORISTRY: FRESH IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS
10.30am to 4.30pm
Tutor: Sheila Sortwell
What better way to start the festive season than to create your own unique Christmas floral decorations! You might even feel confident enough to create some more as gifts for family and friends. This workshop is suited to all abilities and experience, so no expertise is required.. Participants will make a stunning luxurious natural pine mantle arrangement or long table centrepiece, plus a contemporary Christmas spiced and scented garland/wall hanger. All materials will be supplied. And you have the added pleasure of taking your own creations home with you on the day...

WINTER LANDSCAPE MASTERCLASS
10am to 4pm
Tutor: Julian Friers
The acclaimed landscape and wildlife painter returns to Flowerfield with a unique winter landscape oils & acrylics demonstration and masterclass. Julian will show his own techniques and give some insights into his methods of working, and assist participants in developing their own style. This workshop is aimed at those with some working knowledge of painting and participants are asked to bring their own oils and acrylics materials.

CHRISTMAS COSTUME JEWELLERY WORKSHOP
10am to 4pm
Tutor: Julie McLaughlin
Suitable for beginners and those with some prior experience, tutor Julie McLaughlin will guide students in this workshop to create several unique pieces of costume jewellery - ideal as personalised Christmas gifts. Students will be using materials including fabric, beads and wire and the course will include looking at design techniques and the use of colour in a relaxed and fun way. This one day course will not include silver work.
