MAIN GALLERYMain exhibition space on the ground floor of the old Flowerfield House which is accessed via the new wing August 7 to 29BI:FOCAL: An exhibition of Photographic Prints by Norma Burrowes and Susan Glass
This exhibition brings together the work of two photographers, who delight in extracting the abstract from the mundane. Their distinctly different styles and subject matter are somehow united by their eye for the unusual detail that can sometimes pass others by. Photography is becoming more and more accepted as an art form in its own right. Contemporary photographers have pushed the boundaries of what can be considered as likely visual subjects. Bland, mundane and even ugly spaces and objects can be transformed through the lens, creating a different point of view. The visual impact of the images in this exhibition will question how the spectator observes everyday objects and rural landscapes. Reception & Viewing with the artists on Saturday 8 August at 2pm All welcome. Gallery Talk- to be confirmed. Admission free Please telephone in advance if you wish to attend September 3 to 26

DREAMTIME: Maurice Orr An exhibition of original oil paintings
Dreamtime... the Earth was flat, in darkness, dead, silent. Unknown forms of life slept below the surface of the land. Then the supernatural Ancestors broke through the crust of the earth from below, with tumultuous force. The sun rose out of the ground. The land received light for the first time. Maurice Orr captures in opulent paint the intense heat and mysterious ambience of the Australian outback which resonates with strange silences and pulsating vibrations of a million cicadas. Maurice a native of Ballymoney and now a professional artist, turned to oil painting as a hobby after taking early retirement and undergoing major surgery, in 2002 he won his first international residency and in 2003 was awarded the prestigious Arts Council of Northern Ireland's Banff Residency in Alberta, Canada, an experience which radically changed the style of his work. Another residency followed in 2007 from the Arts Council of Australia. "Gondwanaland Vibrations" emerged from it and this is part of that body of work. ENJOY THE HEAT! Reception & Viewing with the Artist Saturday 5 December 2009 2-5pm in Main Gallery - Open welcome to all.
