FRIDAY ART CLUB

Friday 5 January onwards

Cost: £5 per day

Fridays are reserved as our open studio morning for all artists who would like to come and use the facility or meet and share ideas, find inspiration, discuss techniques and enjoy a studio-based painting day.

HERITAGE CRAFT: PATCHWORK 1

for intermediate and advanced students

Tuesday 16 January for 10 weeks

2-4.30pm

Cost: £77 full / £68 concession

This class is for those patchwork students who have more advanced skills and meet as a class to continue improving their skills and sharing enthusiasm for this wonderful heritage craft. As usual, bring your own kit (pencil, paper, paper scissors, thread, fabric scraps and a ruler) and of course, your sewing machine.

The ancient art of yoga consciously links body, mind and breath. These courses include all the elements of classical yoga practice and are suitable for both beginners and continuers.

THE PLEASURE OF PAINTING

A multi-medium painting class

Cost: £75 full / £66 concession

Designed for beginners and improvers, learn new painting techniques working in watercolour, oils or acrylics or just improve your painting skills. Bring your own materials to the first class and advice will be given on any additional equipment or materials you may need. Beginners, please ask for the 'Basic Equipment Checklist' when enrolling.


HERITAGE CRAFT: CROCHET BEE

Traditional Crafts such as crochet can furnish your home and make beautiful ‘knitwear’ for summer and winter as well as being thrifty. Come along on a Saturday morning and learn how to work the stitches and read the patterns. Beginner’s kit? Ask our Box Office team for details.

ART OF FLORISTRY

A structured class to suit students of all abilities, from beginners to the more advanced student, with new tips on technique and design. Ask for the 'Starter Kit Checklist' when enrolling.


KILN FORMED GLASS

Improvers and advanced

Monday 22 January for 6 weeks

2-5pm OR 6-9pm

Cost: £105 full / £95 concession (Ease the fee. Pay in two instalments - Full £50 & £55 or for concession £50 and £45)

A class aimed at the intermediate and advanced level students, working in warm glass using slumping and fusing techniques. The fee covers the cost of firing and slumping, essential workshop materials (kiln paper and megatekta glass) and tools. Students buy their own choice of coloured bullseye glass at a reduced rate through ourselves. Order glass to cover the 6 week course only on advice from the tutor.

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH

Improving beginners

Monday 22 January for 10 weeks

7-9pm

Cost: £75 full / £60 concession

Continue-on class for students of Spanish conversation. The tutor will work through topics such as shopping, eating out, booking accommodation etc. as before. Students are guided through the language in this relaxed and friendly class tutored by Victoria.


SEWING WITH ANGIE

Monday 22 January for 10 weeks

7-9pm

Cost: £75 full / £66 concession

Sewing tips and techniques for students of mixed abilities, Angie will show how to choose your fabric, cut your patterns and make a garment. Ask for the 'Starter Kit Checklist' when enrolling.


CLAY DAYS/CLAY NIGHTS

Tuesday 23 January for 8 weeks

Cost: £112 full / £100 concession (Ease the fee - pay in two instalments. Full £56 x 2 or for concession £50 x 2)

Learn to make sculptural, hand built ceramics or how to throw on the potter's wheel. Techniques are demonstrated to help develop your skills. Basic materials - clay and basic slips/stains and glazes are all supplied. Beginners and experienced students are welcome.

Your kit: Please bring a large lidded plastic box to carry your work, a hand towel and a little tool kit (sold here in the Arts Centre at a reduced rate).

Beginners Class

A course for absolute beginners to learn about warm glass making. Natasha will teach you all the basic skills to get you started on your glassmaking journey. CREATIVE WRITING

This very popular course with award-winning novelist Bernie McGill returns for another inspirational run! Bernie will give tips and direction on writing techniques, style and form and encourage students to write their own little masterpieces. Suitable for beginners and those more experienced.

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH

for absolute beginners

If you'd love to learn Spanish and are starting from scratch, this course is for you! Victoria will teach conversational basics in this supportive and friendly class.


ALCHEMY: GLAZING

Starting on Saturday 27 January

1-3pm

Cost: £15

Recommended for all pottery students, this glaze alchemy drop-in class is facilitated by ceramicist Jack McGonigle. You will gain an understanding of glaze, glaze recipes and glaze application, as well as slip and decoration techniques. Once you gain an understanding of glaze alchemy, there is a future opportunity to use the glaze room and materials for a fee. Alchemy occurs on the last Saturday of each month. Booking essential.

MAKE YOUR OWN MUG

4 Day Introductory Mould-making & Slip-casting Workshop

Saturday 3 & 10 March: Slip-casting

Saturday 17 & 24 March: Mould-making

All sessions 11am-3pm

Cost: £70

A four day class with Gail Mahon leading you step-by-step through the basic techniques of mould-making, slip-casting and glazing techniques in this Mug Making workshop. Design and make your beautiful and unique mug to take home. Suitable for absolute beginners and ceramics enthusiasts! You're welcome to bring a packed lunch each day and we also have tea/coffee and snacks available in our reception.
